Congratulations all for slogging through the last few weeks of Mercury Retrograde, with computer frustrations, car woes, and miscommunications, some on a global display of embarrassing political gaffs. As of Wed., 8/8, Mercury is again Direct in its path, relative to Earth’s path around the Sun, and we can sweep the cobwebs away from our brains, and start to think more clearly again.
Since Mercury-Retro happens every few months for 3 weeks, it’s wise to understand the value it holds, and to appraise how you’ve used it these last few weeks. A key to enjoying your next Mercury Retrograde is to ask yourself: what communications or paperwork had I been putting off, and did I tackle it? Some examples are: organize tax receipts, clear clutter, trash outdated papers, outworn clothes, pay old bills, clean the attic, garage, closets, back hall or drawers, make repairs, visits or phone calls you’ve been avoiding, turn in your stash of recycle bottles, and read that book you’ve been meaning to read … all fine uses for Mercury-Retro, which turns our attention in, and to the past, to things we forgot to get around to before, and which, once achieved, will clear space in our psyches.
This just-ended Mercury Retrograde holds a fond place in my heart. During it, I dusted off a 22-years-old project, plunged in to revisit it, to see if it still merits investing my time and mental energy. It is 500+pages of information that I collected circa 1990, to study the connections between Career Theory and Astrology. Upon review, I discovered valuable material that now begs to be published as a longitudinal study!
Of course, I used Mercury Retro phase for other catching up, like paying bills, visiting family I hadn’t seen in a long time, and learning about the history of some local community issues that I’d been meaning to better understand.
So, with Mercury now Direct again, as your mind shifts into forward gear, think kindly on its Retro days – without it, we may never catch up with all the dropped connections we need to restore, revisit, repair, recycle and renew. By August 22, Mercury returns to where it was when it turned Retro, so the next two weeks can get you back on track under clear mental skies until its next Retro on November 6, when pundits will surely be in full swing, analyzing “what happened?” on Election Day!
Blessings,
Amy
