When Can Your Great Intelligence Also Be A Great Impediment?

Tip 21 Recognise that there are times when your great intelligence can also be a great impediment.

Your mind can be a great servant but a lousy master.” -Anon

A good mind can be a wonderful tool. It can solve problems, operate in the world, make things happen and think clearly. It is also clever at generating fears. Your brain can only understand so much. It only has logic and is only one of many intelligences you have at your disposal. You may pride yourself on knowing the 100 things that could go wrong, of doing a great risk analysis, and seeing the obstacles that could arise. But because you know too much, you could well end up execute too little.

Sometimes, it takes a leap of faith to get things going. You don’t know enough about your resources, faith, the impact you have, the support that exists, the magic that awaits. You don’t know what is going to emerge into your consciousness.

I have rarely figured out in advance how a project was going to succeed, but by moving forward anyway, the path has become clear. If I had used my logic and clear thinking only, I’d still be selling computers.

Freedom project: Recognise when your mind is undermining you and when it is supporting you. Recognise and begin to utilise all the other intelligences you have: physical, emotional, creative and spiritual intelligences.
